Like Bayard Taylor and Greeley, but not Kingsland, likes Parker’s Journal, notice Whitehurst’s daguerreotypes. Admire the Red Man. Like Hawthorne, seems to be ok with Tuckerman but calls him feebleness, flunkeyism, pseudo Italianism, Cooper has frittered away his fame.
